Nathan David Koch, 20, passed away Monday, May 31, 2021. Nathan was born March 21, 2001, in Des Moines, IA, to Jonathan and Teresa (Boswell) Koch.
Nathan loved music, especially classic rock. He was an amazing vocalist, part of the show choir and A Cappella at Waukee High School. After his graduation, Nathan attended Iowa State and was a member of the Iowa Statesmen choral group. More recently, he and his friends created a band. He was even teaching himself to play guitar and violin, and was taking up piano again. Nathan had a brilliant and artistic mind; he loved math and collected and solved all kinds of Rubik’s puzzles or any other puzzle put in front of him. He enjoyed fishing, rereading the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and other book series, and watching the Aristocats over and over when he was younger. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He had a quick wit and never missed a chance to crack a joke. Nathan will forever be loved and missed.
Nathan worked at Marco’s Pizza where he was assistant manager, doing all the jobs as needed and learning the finer details of restaurant management. He was adored by his employers and co-workers.
Nathan is survived by his parents; brothers, Adam and Ian Koch; family members, Conner and Layla Hamilton, Alberta Harlan; grandparents, Monty and Mary Boswell, David and Nancy Koch of Clarinda, IA; uncles, Jeff Boswell of Des Moines, IA, Tom (Brooke) Thaden-Koch of Eden Prairie, MN; aunt, Andrea (Nick) Jordan of Boone, IA; cousins, Joe, Cal, and Claire Jordan, Paxton and Fleer Thaden-Koch; great grandmother, Bobby Boswell of Corning, IA; cat, Toulouse; as well as many family members, friends, and loved ones.
