Naomi, the daughter of Rupert Leo and Cresta Muriel (Johnson) Shepherd, was born on May 10, 1924 in Des Moines. She grew up in Des Moines and graduated from East High School. Naomi was united in marriage with William J. McNally on February 20, 1946 in Des Moines. The couple moved to Newton when William took a job at the Maytag Company. Naomi was a homemaker, raising their three children, Richard, Vicki, and Susan. She enjoyed china painting, taking care of her family, holiday trips to the Amana Colonies and going to Tulip Time in Pella. She also loved her cats, Alex and Miss Kitty.
