Naomi Rebecca Emerson Grogan (Peggy) passed away Friday, August 05, 2016, at the age of 91, in Lagrange, GA. Prior to her stay at the Lagrange Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, she resided at the Insignia Personal Care Home and with family in Newnan, GA. She was born August 13, 1924, to the late Fitzhugh Lee Emerson and Hattie May Massey Emerson in Schoolfield, VA. She is survived by daughters, Sherry Leigh Taylor, of Newnan, GA, and Rebecca Ann Mulinix, of Columbia, SC, as well as grandson Samuel James Mulinix, of Columbia, SC, and an extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Samuel Henry Grogan (Retired US Navy); her sister, Isabel Alice Dail, of Yorktown, VA; and her brothers, F. L. Emerson, of Neptune, NJ; and Theodore (Ted) Emerson of Culpepper, VA. She grew up in the Dan River Mills village of Schoolfield, VA, graduating in 1942 from Schoolfield High School. Her fondest memories were performing in the high school’s Glee Club and of supporting the troops of World War II as a member of the Vagabond Club. While living in Danville, VA, she was employed by Dan River Mills. After moving with her family to Cayce, SC, she worked for R. H. Fulmer Middle School in West Columbia, SC, where she served for 20 years before retiring in 1988.

Throughout her life she was a devoted church member, most notably of Burton Memorial Presbyterian Church in Danville, VA; Congaree Presbyterian Church in Cayce, SC; and Edwards Memorial Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, Cayce, SC.
