Naomi Kerste, 97, of Ottawa, passed away Tuesday evening, July 3, 2012, at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa. Naomi was born November 2, 1914 in Ottawa to Fred and Alice (Warren) Nelson. She married Thor Wallem in June of 1936. He passed away August 9, 1975.
She later married Clyde H. Kerste on December 18, 1977. He passed away September 5, 1994. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Ottawa Women’s Club. She worked in the office at Libbey Owens Ford until 1939 and then was a bookkeeper for R.A. Brue Trucking for 23 years. She is survived by two daughters, Judy Wasmund of Belvidere and Karen (Ronald) Saager of Denver , CO; one son, Erik (Terry) Wallem of Ottawa and one step-son, Clyde Allen “Ozzie” Kerste of Craig, Colorado; eleven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Thor and her second husband, Clyde; and one sister, Elizabeth Marten. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church.
