Nancy Louise Young, 59, of Huntsville, Alabama died tragically Tuesday at her residence. Nancy was known to the Free Cherokee as White Spirit Feather.
Ms. Young was born in Bristol, Tennessee and lived in Huntsville all of her adult years. She graduated from Lee High School and studied at Calhoun Community and Tennessee Valley Colleges. She worked in electronics testing and assembly for Palco Incorporated, Testpro Systems and Avex. Nancy’s passion was to design and create custom jewelry, bead work and mobiles that she displayed and sold at the Flying Monkey at Lowe Mill. Within the Free Cherokee Nancy was an herbalist and pipe carrier. She loved gardening in her yard.
She was preceded in death by her father Ben Hyder Young, brother Donald Eugene Young, and niece Emily Angel Young.
Survivors include her mother Alice Pauline Smith Young of Huntsville; half-sister Peggy Jean Young Lyons Mitchell of Johnson City, Tennessee; brother Richard Harrison Young (partner Larry Wayne Peterson) of Newark, Delaware; sister Benna Kay Young Tate (husband David Marc Tate) of Bloomington, Indiana; sister-in-law Teresa Wiley Young of Bloomington, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews: Sherri Lee Lyons Price (husband Joe) of Johnson City, Tennessee; Larry Jerome Lyons Jr. (life-mate Staci McClanathan) of Johnson City, Tennessee; Robert Wayne Mitchell II (wife Victoria McClellan) of Johnson City, Tennessee; Nathaniel Robert Young of Pulaski, Virginia; Micah Colin Young (spouse George Karl Hellman) of Huntsville, Alabama; Ben Hyder Young II (wife Michelle Lee Glenn) of Huntsville, Alabama; Raymond Keith Evans (wife Dana Beth) of Williamsport, Pennsylvania; and James Richard Evans of Kokomo, Indiana.
