Groton – Nancy Joan (Desmond) Morgan, 85 of Lestertown Rd formerly of Preston, Ct died Friday August 28 in Fairview Nursing Home. Born in Willimantic, Ct, she was the daughter of the late Gerald James and Mary Florence (Wade) Desmond.
Nancy worked as a registered nurse for a total of 40 years. She was an auxiliary board member of Backus Hospital; a board member of Reliance House; and past president and board member of The Southeast Mental Health Authority Auxillary. Nancy was a lifelong communicant of St. Patrick’s Cathedral. She enjoyed many creative and artistic hobbies, including creative writing and journaling. She was an avid reader. She loved to travel. Her love of her children was always foremost in her life.
Nancy is survived by her six children, Mary Kathryn Montague of Plainfield, Ct; John Morgan, Jr. of Griswold, Ct; Michael Morgan of Telluride, Co; Sheila J. Morgan of Preston, Ct; Margaret Wade Chaput of Scarborough, Me; and Brian D. Morgan of Ophir, Co; her brother Daniel Desmond of Waterford, Ct; her sister, Priscilla Bourne of Delray Beach, Fl and nine grandchildren. She was the sister of the late David Desmond.
