Nancy Jean Martin, 75, died on January 9, 2016, following a brief illness. Born on February 14, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Victoria Piha. She attended high school and nursing school in Chicago, Illinois. She married James Peter Martin in 1960 and soon after moved to Denver, Colorado. Nancy worked as a nurse her entire career having worked at the Veterans Administration Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado. After a long and successful career in nursing, Nancy and Jim developed an interest in sailing. She and Jim retired at the ripe age of 55 and sold their home and most of their possessions in Denver and moved to sunny Florida and become “live-aboards” on their sail boat, docking in Punta Gorda, Florida. They thoroughly enjoyed the sailing life and made many close friends at the dock at which they resided at Fisherman’s Village in Punta Gorda, Fl. Nancy enjoyed working on the day cruise boat and James enjoyed teaching sailing after getting his captains license.
