Nancy J. Strohecker, 71 of Freeport died Wednesday October 24, 2012 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport never letting cancer beat her.
Born April 3, 1941 in Freeport she was the daughter of Eldon and Doris (Adams) Richtman. She was a graduate of Freeport High School in 1959. On November 17, 1976 she and James Strohecker were united in marriage. He preceded her in death on March 17, 2012. Nancy was a member of many different organizations including Freeport Home Extension, Freeport Red Hatters, class reunion committees, Freeport Eagles, Freeport Moose, Freeport Rehab Extension, Miriam Society, card club of 52 years, bowling leagues, the Amity Follies for many years with her children and grandchildren and Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. She will be missed by her family and many friends. She was a frequent traveler and an avid gambler.
Surviving are two daughters Jacquelyn (Robert) Shaffer of Freeport, Sandra (Anthony) Meyers of Freeport; two sons Michael (Lisa) Brooks of Belvidere, Steven Strohecker of Freeport; 8 grandchildren, Corinne Castle, Timothy Castle Jr., Anthony Castle, Aaron Brooks, Trisha Brooks, Jayme Brooks, Ashlee Brooks, Nathan Meyers; 8 great grandchildren; sister Louise (Roger) Nilles of Freeport and brother Eddie Raih of Freeport.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Jim.
