Nancy Sue House Billingsley, commonly known as Sis, and Baba to her grandchildren, went to be with the Lord at the age of 72. Surrounded by her loving family, she passed peacefully from this life on Thursday evening, February 26, 2009. Born in Victoria, TX on June 29, 1936, she was the daughter of Randall “Jack” House and Gertrude House. She found herself attending not only the University of Texas, but also the University of Mexico. When she returned to San Antonio she was blessed with two magnificent boys, Scott House Billingsley, and later on James Hunter Billingsley. Nancy was a strong, independent woman and a kind and loving mother. She always had the love and support of her parents, yet she was always ready to do it herself before asking for help. Moving from San Antonio to Boerne, from Boerne to Comfort, Nancy soon found herself with five beautiful grandchildren, three granddaughters, Morgan Billingsley, Meredith Billingsley and Mikayla Billingsley from her first born son, Scott, and two grandsons, James Hunter Billingsley, Jr. and Matthew Billingsley from her second born son James. She loved them all so dearly and bragged of them often. Nancy was also survived by her Brother Randell “Butch” House and his wife Marilyn; and her sister Jane Braswell; and many nieces and nephews that she dearly loved. Nancy was a successful entrepreneur, opening “The Shower Stall” in North Star Mall. Nancy also owned and operated “The Brass Tub” in Boerne. Boerne and Comfort alike found a special place in Nancy”s heart, and in 1974 she started in the real estate business, opening “The House Company” which is still in operation today. Nancy had a passion for antiques, and so with her sister Jane Braswell, opened an antique shop in Boerne named “Two on the Ark”. Later on in 1993, they opened a new shop in Comfort, Tx, called “Antiquities Etc.” One of her greatest loves was her antiquing where she made many lifelong friends. She will be missed immensely by her Comfort family who already feel her vacancy in the community. Nancy loved and supported her entire family. She was always the Rock of the family, our Matriarch, as some would say. Never could anyone find a more nurturing mother, generous sister, inspirational grandmother, loving aunt, or loyal friend. You could always depend on her to help you in your most dire need. Nancy was a feisty woman, whose laugh could bring a smile to any face, whose bright green eyes smiled at only one glance. Her strong stature will always be something to strive for. As friends and family appear out of the woodwork, we realize we will all miss her very greatly, but will hold onto the knowledge that she is now dancing up in heaven with her Mama and Daddy. We will reminisce, laugh and smile in her memory, and fight not to cry too much because we know she would want us to be strong, and to enjoy the life we have.
