Nancy enjoyed life in many ways. She fondly recalled her days as a Girl Scout and remembered the Thursday night dances as a young girl. She graduated from Pecatonica High School in 1962. She loved riding in the golf cart around her property taking in the sights of the prairie, bird watching and looking for Sand Hill that she and a friend named Stephen and Winnie. She loved her miniature donkeys and horses, keeping sharp with puzzles and game shows, and spending time with her family, friends, cousins and classmates whenever they could get together, especially for lunch when they could catch up. Nancy was a hard working farm wife and she gave 110% to everything she did in life. She was also a faithful employee of what was originally Pleasant View Cheese as it grew to become Berner Foods. Prior to that, she also worked at Girl Scouts of America at Camp Medill McCormick, Central Illinois Electric and Gas Company, and Crum and Forster.

She is survived by her children, Ken (Brad MacCallum) Germain of Rockford; Angela Olson of Derby England; a sister, Linda (Bert) Johnson of Alabama as well as several nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.  She was also close with friends throughout the years that became like family including members of the MacCallum, Tarrant, and Green families. The family would like to send many thanks to UW Madison, Swedish American Hospital, and OSF St. Anthony Medical Center for their excellent care. A special thanks to Patrice and Dillon who went above and beyond in their care for Nancy and the entire family in her final hours.  Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband and a brother, Stewart Black.
