Mrs. Nancy Carol (Richey) Norwood, “Devoted Wife, Caring Mom, Doting Grandmother, Loyal Sister, and Loving Daughter” was called to her eternal home on January 10, 2021.
Mrs. Nancy Carol (Richey) Norwood was born to Samuel and Atmonia Richey on June 6, 1954 in Talladega, Alabama. Nancy accepted Christ at a young age and she believed in volunteering and being a servant for the Lord. Once she became an adult she served as a choir director and First Lady at Freewill Church of God in Christ in Harpersville, Alabama for over 21 years where her devoted husband Elder Jim Norwood served as pastor. .
Sister Nancy was a graduate of Munford High School where she was a Majorette and later went to Gadsden State Community College. Sister Nancy was also devoted to her community by becoming a teacher to students that were not allowed to attend Vincent Elementary due to class sizes being at full capacity. Sister Nancy taught kindergarten for two years. She educated over twenty students that are now Teachers, Managers, Scientist and Directors in their respective careers. Sister Nancy believed in encouraging people to achieve higher goals. She also worked as a caregiver at a nursing home and in finance for several years.
Sister Nancy had many hobbies but her favorite hobbies were cooking and spending time with family. She is preceded in death by her Son Jim Norwood Jr, her parents Samuel Richey & Atmonia Suttle- Richey, Sister Annie Lee Bass, Brother Manuel Richey, Mother-in-Law Parlee Norwood and Father –in- law Lawrence Adams.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her Loving and devoted husband of 46 years Jim Norwood, one son Kevin (Monica) Norwood which she always called Kebo. Four grandchildren Andrew Jamal Norwood, Ladrel Donte Norwood, Zya Rose Norwood and Zoria Lynn Norwood. One sister Mildred Whetstone, Two brothers, Samuel (Teresa) Richey and Jimmy Richey, two brother- in-Laws Jerry (Phillis) Norwood and Frank Bass, five sister-in-law’s Clementine McGinnis, Earnestine Norwood, Daisy Turner, Fannie Tate, Carolyn Richey and a host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
