Nancy C. Wright, 72, of Jacksonville, died Nov. 15, 2016, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
She was born Nov. 2, 1944, the daughter of Irvin and Lorene Davis Childs. She married Edward N. Wright on Dec. 31, 1983, and he survives.
She is also survived by one daughter, Katrina (Gerald) Freeny of Altadena, CA; four sons, Chauncey B. (Tess) Whitaker Jr. of Jacksonville, Clayton L. Whitaker Sr. of Wood River, Kelvin A. (Melissa) Wright Sr. of Ashland, and Craig J. (Tami) Wright Sr. of Jacksonville; 6 stepchildren; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Crystal Ann Whitaker; her father; and her mother and stepfather, Lorene and Vivan Sheppard.
Mrs. Wright worked at J. Capps & Sons for many years, and then worked for Anderson Clayton as a Laboratory Analyst. She and Ed owned and operated E & N Lounge for several years, and she was Past President of AMVETS Post #100 Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid collector of “All God’s Children” figurines, and was proud to have travelled to all of the Lower 48 states. Nancy enjoyed playing bingo, as well as her trips to Las Vegas. She especially loved her family and doted on her children and grandchildren.
