Nancy C. Beard, 76, of Cassopolis, died Thursday, March 8, 2012 in her home. She was born in South Bend, Indiana on June 20, 1935 to Elza and Berniece (Mitchell) Hill. She married Lawrence E. Beard on April 16, 1955. He preceded her in death on January 13, 2007. She was also preceded by her parents and one sister, Susan Robinson.
Nancy always claimed that her prayer for her family was that if they did anything wrong, she prayed that they got caught. She was a member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church, Cassopolis. She enjoyed volunteering at church and in the community and taking care of family and friends, traveling (and more traveling!) and spending time with her grandchildren. Her family says, “If anybody achieved her bucket list, it was our Mom!”
Mrs. Beard is survived by three daughters, Loree’ (Mark) Frank of Farmington Hills, Lorraine Beard Dukes of Wyoming, Phyllis Beard-Armstrong of Grand Rapids; two sons, Lawrence (Kathy) Beard, Jr. of Rockford, Elza (Karen) Beard of Kentwood; twenty one grandchildren, thirty four great grandchildren, three great great granddaughters; three sisters, Virginia Anderson, Cassopolis, Janet Belmont of Grand Rapids, and Alice Hill of Cassopolis; and one brother in law Fred Robinson of Grand Rapids.
