Obituary of Nancy Barrett LaRose Lacis

Nancy June Barrett LaRose Lacis, 73, of Saginaw went home to be with the Lord on Easter morning, April 12, 2020, at her home. She was born on March 1, 1947, in Saginaw, to Miles and Alberta (Felten) Barrett and graduated from Birch Run High School, class of 1964. Always looking to help others, she was a nurse’s aide at the Lutheran Home for many years until transitioning to be a full-time mother. She was married and divorced twice and raised four children.
A woman of deep faith, she was active in the Lutheran church (LCMS) her entire life. From teaching Sunday School, to the Secretary on the Good Friday Committee, to Bible studies, to a Prayer Warrior, Nancy was quick to share her gifts or the Gospel whenever possible.
Her compassion led her to be involved with several organizations in the Saginaw area including Bethesda (volunteering more than 750 hours), the Underground Railroad, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the VA hospital, Relay for Life, Goodwill, and Old Town Christian Outreach.
Nancy is survived by her four children, Deborah LaRose of Glendale, Arizona; Joanna LaRose of Rolla, Missouri; Karl Lacis of Saginaw, Michigan; and Emma Gailitis of Portage, Michigan; grandson, Brian J. Mahfoud, active U.S. Navy; brother-in-law, Ronald Breiler, of Anchorage, Alaska, and additional family, friends, and church family. Preceding her in death was her mother, Alberta Quellette in 2019; father, Miles Barrett; stepfather, Joe Quellette; and sister, Donna Breiler.
