Nadine McDougal Speir (Nana), died peacefully surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, June 6, 2015, she was 92 years old.

Nadine is survived by her children, Deon/Clinton, Las Cruces, Cheryl/Allan, Pinos Altos, Montie/Rita, Deming. Six grandchildren, Chip, Jason, Harmony, Honey, Nolan, and Clint, 6 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers, Ralph/Delah, Luther/Dorothy, Dyar/Nelda and numerous nieces and nephews, 2 sisters-in-law, LaMont Speir Dolman and Ruth Speir Kuehn. Nadine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bill Speir and her sisters, Alda Murusky, Nettie Potter, and Muriel Treadwell.

Nadine was born October 29, 1922 in Fort Bayard, NM to Mamie Frances Toney and Luther Hamilton McDougal. She graduated from Deming High School.

Nadine married Bill Leo Speir in 1948, together they farmed and later bought her family’s ranch in the Little Floridas. During WWII she worked in an airplane plant in California as a machinist. She had several jobs in Luna County eventually becoming District Court Clerk of the Sixth Judicial District of Grant, Hidalgo and Luna counties where she worked until her retirement.

She loved to travel and managed to travel to six continents. She loved to paint, especially her beloved Little Florida mountains and the fauna and flora they contained. Family was foremost in her life and she remained very close to her siblings and cousins throughout her life. She loved to camp and hunt and was a crack shot and patient and rarely came home empty-handed. She loved branding and working cattle with family and friends.
