Nadine Melton of Carlyle died Saturday July 11, 2009 at Countryside Manor Nursing Home in Aviston at the age of 78 years. She was born in Higginson, Arkansas on August 21, 1930 the daughter of Charles and Dorothy (Gifford) Kinney.
Nadine married Elmer Melton on February 21, 1946 and he survives along with 7 daughters: Sharon Rule and husband Ed of Carlyle, Linda Koch and husband Joe of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Debbie Hunt and husband Ron of Carlyle, Mary Hitpas of Breese, Becky Peters and husband Dale of Germantown, Janice Holtgrave of Breese and Lisa Rodenberg and husband Richard of Tilden; 3 sons: Elmer Melton Jr. and wife Stacy of Breese, Ralph Melton and wife Debbie of Carlyle and Mike Melton of Carlyle; a sister: Velvie Wiese of Arkansas; 31 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren.
Mrs. Melton was preceded in death by her parents; step father: Jesse Weekley; daughter: Doris Legate; son: Dennis Melton; grandchildren: Jeremy Melton, Chelsea Melton, Terry Marshall and SSGT Joshua Melton; and sons-in-law: 1st Lt. Walter “Butch” Koehler and Tim Hitpas. Nadine enjoyed sewing, baking, most crafts, and camping. She especially enjoyed being with her family.
