Myrtis Elaine Brian Hicks, 89, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 25, 2022, at the Gables of Idaho Falls Assisted Living. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted, in November 2015.

Her ancestry traces back for hundreds of years to early Louisiana settlers. She was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on November 6, 1932, to Effie Lollie Bennett Brian and Ernest Dewitt Brian, her parents having roots in the Slaughter and Zachary area. She was the youngest in a large family of eleven children. She graduated from Istrouma High School in Baton Rouge. She went on to study at the Business College in Baton Rouge. Her training as a legal secretary qualified her for several positions. Among them was the law firm of Watson, Blanche, Wilson and Posner. She went on to also work for Kaiser Aluminum, Rockwell International in Richardson, Texas, and the Richardson Independent School District.

She met and married Theodore Arthur Hicks of Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1953. They established their home in the Baton Rouge area where Ted attended Louisiana State University.

She leaves six daughters, Janelle (Earl) Norris of Midway, Utah, Elizabeth Woolstenhulme of Idaho Falls, Lisa (David) Prier of Huntsville, Texas, Jennifer (Kirkmichael) Moore, Deanna Hicks of Idaho Falls, and Rachel (Greg) Gibson of Ashville, N.C. She leaves behind 17 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two grandchildren, Christiana and Emma.
