Myrtha Alexandre, 85, of Lower Nazareth, passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at home. She was the widow of Dr. Journel Alexandre. Born in Anse Rouge, Haiti on December 8, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Amania Emmanuel.

Myrtha loved experiencing different cultures and traveling. So upon graduating from secondary school, she left Haiti and traveled to various countries while visiting family members, but eventually settled in New York City. Myrtha worked in data entry for several years but more importantly, she was a loving and caring homemaker always putting her family first. As a natural nurturer and a strong believer in education, Myrtha supported many of her nieces and nephews in acquiring professional degrees. She was even considered the bridge of connection in our large family who consistently made sure that the family kept in touch with one another on a regular basis.

She enjoyed nature and spending time outdoors. One of her favorite past times was planting, tending to her garden, and going on long walks with her grandchildren.

Although she wasn’t the savviest when it came to technology, she enjoyed playing on her iPad, FaceTiming with her family, browsing through her electronic photo gallery, and keeping in touch with family via WhatsApp.

In her later years, Myrtha was still highly active and still enjoyed traveling, going to church, and experiencing new adventures. During many of those adventures, she was so easily loved by the people she met and seemed to always leave a lasting impression where many kept in touch and called her “Mom.” And in Myrtha’s fashion, she would add them to her family and pray for them. In addition to being very faithful, Myrtha remained committed to donating to religious and third-world charitable causes.

SURVIVORS: Myrtha will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Janice Plaisir Louis and husband Frantz, and Myrna Plaisir Daramy and husband Sheriff; grandchildren, Jordan and Nathan Daramy; sisters, Emmanuela Lazare and Marie Denise Guignard. She was predeceased by brothers, Jean Claude and Carlos Emmanuel.
