Myrna Foley, age 77, of Algona, died on Friday February 20, 2015 at the Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa.

Myrna LeAnn, the daughter of John and Norma (Johnson) Meling, was born on January 9, 1938 in Cylinder, Iowa. She graduated from Emmetsburg High School in 1956 and attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD for one year. On April 13, 1958 Myrna was united in marriage with Roger Foley at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Depew. Myrna & Roger started their married life in Adams, MN on a farm. Then they moved to the family farm near Cylinder. In 1964 they moved to Humboldt where they owned and operated ‘Foley’s Flowers’ until 1970. From 1970 -75 they owned and operated Foley’s Sports Center in Algona. Myrna and Roger then owned and operated a bowling alley in Gowrie and Jefferson. In 1986 they moved back to Algona and Myrna worked as a dietitian in care centers. Myrna was a member of First Lutheran Church and the VFW Auxiliary. Myrna loved sewing, knitting, crocheting, baking and spending time with her grandkids.

Left to cherish Myrna’s memory is her husband of 56 years, Roger; her children, Michael (Kathie) Foley of Wesley, Karen (Patrick) Eagan of Mineral Point, WI, Mark Foley of El Cajon, CA and Kellee (Shane) Rolling of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Kari (Brian) Kinkade, Mick Foley, Allisa (Courtney) Foley, Sara Foley, Taylor Foley, Matthew (Brooke) Eagan, Molly (Amanda) Eagan, Mary Kate (Joe) Holter, Kara (Matthew) McWilliams, Jaryd Dutton, Nikki (Dustin) Baxter and Brooke Baxter; great grandchildren, Kloee Thilges, Carter Thilges, Kellen Kinkade, Brynn Kinkade, Natalie McWilliams, Addison McWilliams, Piper Jo Holter, Keeley Eagan and Olivia Wilson; and a brother, Duane (Ilomae) Meling of Cylinder. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a grandson, Bryant Foley.
