November 19, 1916 – July 17, 2012

Ferne Rooker, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother went to be with the Lord on Tuesday July 17, 2012 at the age of 95. Ferne was born on November 19, 1916 to Will and Ruth House in Colony, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Jessie and Verlamae and her beloved husband of 55 years, Cleo Rooker. She is survived by her daughter Mary Kobett and her grandchildren Mary Kay Kobett, Patrick Kobett, Karen Shaw and her husband James and great granddaughters Hannah and Ava Shaw, two nieces, Kathy Ragsdale and Linda Neikirk. Ferne loved life, had a wonderful sense of humor and lit up any room she entered. She was devoted to God and her family. She served as the hands and feet of Jesus on this earth as a social worker for many years. Her heart was always for those who needed help and when she retired she volunteered to help those in need up into her 90″s. She was a wonderful role model and a truly exceptional woman. She was described by a dear friend as a little lady with a big heart. She enjoyed reading, listening to music and being with her family. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The family wishes to thank Jess Noval and Elena Hurst-Garcia and the caregivers of Vista Verde Manor along with Alamo Hospice for the compassion and loving care they gave to our mother and grandmother.
