Myrl D. Hilbert, 87, of Bethlehem, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at St. Lukes Hospital-Fountain Hill. He was the husband of Gloria (Badel) Hilbert, with whom he shared over 41 years of marriage, and the late Betty Jane (Minnich) Hilbert who passed away in 1969. Born in Hanover, York County, Pa., he was a son of the late David and Carrie (Nace) Hilbert. He was a graduate of Hanover High School in 1942. He also served in the Merchant Marines. Myrl was a machinist for Bethlehem Foundry and Bethlehem Corp. for almost 40 years. Myrl was a member of Edgeboro Moravian Church, Bethlehem where he was an Elder, Trustee, Sacristan, Choir, Mens Bible Study and taught Sunday School. Myrl was President and served on the Board of Directors for Credit Union for Bethlehem Corp. for several years. He was a beekeeper and Past President of the Lehigh Valley Beekeepers and also was a skilled woodworker. Survivors: his devoted Wife, daughter, Karen L. Gehret, Bethlehem, Pa.; brother, Mark E. Hilbert, Mechanicsburg, Pa.; and foster children, Katherine Smith and Charles Burger.
