Muriel E. Kolander 89, of Ramona, CA. passed away peacefully to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 21, 2020. Muriel was born in Wisconsin on August 1, 1930, daughter to Sterling and Gladys Kolander, sister to Arlene Kolander.  Muriel and her sister grew up in Wisconsin with many cousins and family.  Muriel attended elementary and high school there, as well attending Moody Bible Institute in Wisconsin, attaining her teaching degree at Bob Jones University.

Muriel and her sister Arlene moved to El Cajon, CA. in the 1960’s. Muriel taught school for many years first at Madison Avenue Elementary, finishing her career at Montgomery Middle School.  She loved all her students, and many stayed in contact throughout the years. The teachers and staff remained close friends as well, the last celebration they had together was an 80th birthday party for Muriel.  Anyone who knew Muriel fell in love with her smile and laugh.

Muriel and her sister Arlene moved to Ramona 1979, where they designed and built a beautiful home, the ranch had amazing views of the mountains.  They raised and showed Arabian horses.  Entertaining guest where they would sit around their dining room table sharing stories and the beautiful views was a favorite for both Muriel and Arlene.  Muriel loved music; played the piano and sang along with many gospel singers. She especially enjoyed the singing from the Gaither Vocal band.

Muriel became well known for her quote of:   “Keep the Up Look for a Good Outlook”

Muriel is survived by a cousin John Leischer of Wisconsin, Cousin Terry Becker of South Carolina and many friends who loved her like a sister.   We would like to thank the staff of Ramona Senior Manor for the loving care they gave Muriel these last 4 years.   We say goodbye to Muriel now, but for those who put their faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior will one day be reunited with Muriel in Heaven.
