Muriel Elizabeth John, 93, passed away peacefully from natural causes on June 6, 2016, surrounded by her children. She was born September 8, 1922 in Lambert, Montana, to Roy and Isabella Fink and was the oldest of twelve children.

Muriel graduated from Lambert High School with her sister Christine in 1941. She went to a business college in Missoula and moved to Seattle. While there, she met Gean Stark from Meridian, Idaho, who was serving in the US Navy on the USS Enterprise. They were married after the war in San Francisco in 1945.  

Muriel lived in San Lorenzo, California, and Sidney, Montana, before settling in Boise sixty years ago to raise her five children. She worked for Westinghouse, Zales Jewelers and Boise Cascade. Gean Stark died in 1977.  

In Muriel’s retirement, she attended senior citizen dances in the valley and met LaVern John of Parma. They were married in 1984 and Muriel moved to LaVern’s farm.

Muriel is survived by her five children, Anna Stark of Batavia, OH, Charlotte Stark of Kuna, Mary Gray (Dan) of Boise, Clarence Stark (Anna) of Weiser, and Ray Stark (Linda) of Boise; LaVern’s children, Ranae Doser (Leo), Bob Herzog (Dee), LaRee Peek (Gary), and Gary John (Kayleen); brothers, Harold, Joe (Virginia), Robert and Jim; sister, Dorothy; brother-in-law, Earnie Stark (Mickey); sisters-in-law, Maxine Fink, Marcy Fink, Billie Fink and Elda Lauritzen; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.  

She was preceded in death by her brothers, John, Paul and Bill; and sisters, Christine Schmitz, Margaret Vaira and Mary Dignan.
