ROSA LEE (OLIVER, AKERS) THATCH was born April 28, 1937 in Indianapolis, IN to Allen andOlvernia Oliver. She attended Indianapolis Public Schools.
 

Rosa Lee was unwavering in her faith and commitment to God. She was baptized in Jesus name and

served faithful on several auxiliaries, the usher board, the hospitality, and the kitchen committee. Later
she moved her membership to Zion Tabernacle where she continued her faithful work with the
hospitality, the Sunday School and vacation Bible School.
Rosa Lee extended her family as she was joined in Holy Matrimony to Thurman Thatch in 1978.
 

friends. Her friends grew as she attended family camp and senior camp at Hidden Falls Camp in Bedford,
IN. She passed down her creativity and love for sewing to every generation that came after her. She
enjoyed arts and crafts with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her leadership and generosity led
her to help with sewing classes at the salvation army and being a 4-H leader for over 10 year.
 
Rosa Lee Thatch was called home to be with the Lord on August 20, 2022 at the age of 85. She was
preceded in death by her parents: Allen and Olvernia Oliver, sisters Leitus Johnson, Vernetta Phelps;
brothers Wendell Oliver, Floyd Oliver, and Kenneth Oliver.
She leaves to cherish her memory: daughters, Lenestta Jones, Lorraine Grigsby, Shelley (Raydell)
Higgins, Elaine Reynosa, Vickie Thatch, Jeanette (Gregory) Watson, Laura Wilson; sons, John Akers, Jay
(Anita) Akers, Ray Akers, Richard Akers, Lennie (Betty) Thatch, Keith Thatch, Robert (Glynnus) Thatch;
brother, David (Queenie) Oliver; sisters, Mary Ann Gregg, Lillian Poole, Doris (Sam) Kirkland; and a
host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
