Karen Cowger Mettler, age 67, died Thursday, April 12, 2018, at Select Specialty Hospital. She was predeceased by her parents, William Henry Cowger and Anna Mae Sexton Cowger and her former husband, Dale Mettler. Karen leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Kevin; and sisters, Diane (Mark) Hudson of Harrisonburg, Virginia and Carol Keyser of Tallahassee, Florida. Karen had a BA degree from FSU. She worked for several attorneys in Tallahassee, Miami and Jacksonville and retired from Fringe Benefits Management Company in 2015. Karen was a member of Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church. She was active in Seekers Sunday School class, which she dearly loved, the Creation Care Ministry and served as an office volunteer. She was a member of the Tallahassee Watercolor Society, Tallahassee Social Club, Tallahassee Senior center. Karen also volunteered at Tall Timbers Research Station and the annual Red Hills Horse Trials. Karen enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends. She loved history, art, music, nature, a good book, movies, her family and friends, but most importantly, Karen loved God. She was grounded in her Christian beliefs and enjoyed studying and discussing her Methodist roots.
