Elizabeth (Beth) Lindsey Stokes, 68, of Tallahassee, Florida passed away on September 5, 2021. Beth was born February 16, 1953, to Carl and Ann Stokes of Jacksonville, Florida. She graduated from Florida State University and was a dedicated public servant, serving Florida residents as an IG Investigator and then a Program Administrator for the Florida Dept. of Children and Families. Beth was a vibrant and radiant woman. She made all those around her feel welcome and valued.

Beth always found the positive, even as she battled and defeated breast cancer. She had a kind and encouraging word for everyone she met. Beth met her partner, Donald Shields, in 1995. Beth and Don were the best of friends. They shared countless life events, some wonderful, some tragic, but always together. She cherished her four-pawed kitty children, Kiddy Boy, Boots, Kiki, Violet, and Maggie. Beth was an avid gardener, spending hours with her plants. She was a passionate supporter of the Tallahassee Symphony. Beth loved art of all kinds, but she had a special eye for pottery. She loved taking walks, the beach, and Christmas at Callaway Gardens.

Beth is predeceased by her mother and father and her partner’s granddaughter, Kendra Alexis Shields.She is survived by her partner of 26 years, Donald C. Shields; her best friends, David Jackson and David Taylor; her sister, Mary Mueller (Kevin); her brothers, Carl Stokes (Jenny), John Stokes (Dorothy) and James Stokes; her partner’s son, Matthew (Allison) Shields, his children and grand-children and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
