Ms. Cathey Bayless, 70, of Tallahassee, died on Friday, July 30, 2021.
She was born on February 15, 1951, in Kenton, Ohio to Harvey J. Bayless, Jr. and Vermell McMillan Bayless, who precede her in death.
Ms. Bayless had lived in Tallahassee for six years, moving here from Oakland, California, where she had spent most of her adult life. She was a faithful parishioner at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and served as a lay Dominican. She was also very active with C.H.R.P. (Christ Renews His Parish) and loved her C.H.R.P. sisters.
One of Ms. Bayless’s greatest accomplishments was being a straight A student during her entire educational years, gaining the honor of valedictorian of the 1969 graduating class of Buckeye Local High School in Rushylvania, Ohio. Following her high school graduation, she attained both Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Walden University. Another great love of hers was cats!
Ms. Bayless is survived by her sisters, Iris Bayless Dunson, Shelley Bayless and Sakinah (Rita Bayless) Rasheed; nieces, Imani Rasheed, Naima Rasheed, Fatima Salam, Rachel Dunson and Monique McCain; her nephew, Bashir Rasheed; and her favorite feline friend, Daisy.
