Mrs. Virginia L. Thompson

Mrs. Virginia L. Thompson, age 88 of 575 County landfill Road, Pittsboro, NC passed on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at her home.

Virginia was a very active member of Mitchell Chapel AME Zion Church where she was a member of the Usher Board, member of the White Wings choir for 60 years, member of the Interdenominational Ushers Union and held the role of President of Chatham and Orange County Arts and Crafts Division. She was an active member within the community and an instructor for Arts and Crafts at the Council on Aging; her talents won her many awards and ribbons for arts, crafts and sewing.

She leaves to cherish her loving and caring memory four generations. Children, Raymond Alston (Marie) of Pittsboro, NC, Jean Headen (Jerry), Robert Alston (Hattie) of Siler City, NC, Ada M. Alston of Pittsboro, NC, Albert Alston (Linda) of Siler City, NC, Steven Alston (Pamela) of Greensboro, NC, and Diena Thompson Burton (Van) of Fuquay Varina, NC; grandchildren, Keith, Patrick (laRhonda), Jannetta Headen, Penelope Alston, Amanda Alston Farrar (Jerry), Lorita Alston Lawson (Fred), Larry Anthony Alston (DeeDee), Renardo Alston (Johanna), Tori Alston, Chadwick Goins, Tavarus and Dalmonte Alston, Brandon and Nicholas Burton; great grandchildren, Kaela and Traci Headen, Jeremy and Amari Alston, La Shay and Alicia Alston, Roddrikk, Akayjai, Kaniya, Kaliyah Alston, AJ, Skylar and Kyleigh Lynn, Cameron Goins; great great grandchild, Hayden Alston; one sister, Catherine Alston of Pittsboro, NC; daughter-in-law, Estella D. Alston (wife of deceased son, Larry) and an adoptive daughter, Julia J. Alston.
