Virginia “Ginny” Garretson Hair, 59, a Tallahassee resident since 2010, and formerly of Jacksonville, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Saturday, April 11, 2020, at Tallahassee Memorial Health Care.
She had bravely struggled with autoimmune disorders for over 25 years, including Lupus, which over the last six years ultimately wore her heart out. Although shocked at Ginny’s passing, the family takes comfort knowing that the constant pain, she quietly and valiantly battled for years, is gone. Born in Rockville Center, New York on August 5, 1960, she was a daughter of the late William Henry Garretson and the late Martha Virginia Phillips Garretson Love. A sister, Doris Gittin, also preceded her in death. She earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree from Flagler University and spent her working career as an elementary school teacher. Not long after her son’s birth, she became a dedicated homemaker. Ginny was very involved with her children’s schools, actively serving in the various PTA’s, including a role as president. Later, she also enjoyed taking motorcycle trips with her husband on the Harley along with friends.
However, nothing was more important than her family. A mother at heart, she was a mother to all who needed her. The last three years she spent dedicated to her grandchildren. Nothing gave her more joy. She will be missed by her husband of 33 years, Robert “Bob” Dale Hair; children, Rebecca Diane Studard (husband, Michael) and Thomas Dale Hair (wife, Kelsey); grandchildren, Michael Studard, Ryan Studard and Reagan Hair; and siblings, Debbie Ditzler (husband, Fred) and Gary Garretson (wife, Joyce). Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews, as well as her best friend and “sister”, Brenda Conner.
