Mrs. Viola E. Lee 94, of 1029 Gum Springs Rd., Moncure, NC passed on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at her residence.

At an early age she gave her life to God and joined Mount Olive Baptist Church in Moncure, NC. She remained a faithful member of Mount Olive through most of her Christian life. Later she became a member of New Freedom Missionary Baptist Church. Throughout her church life, she was an active member in several groups such as the Missionary; Usher Board; a member of the senior choir; as well as served as president of the Baptist Usher Board Union, presiding over 28 churches.

Viola attended Horton High School in Pittsboro, NC. She was a very caring, loving and kind person who enjoyed helping others, especially the youth. She formed and managed a teenage, male singing group called the “Rising Stars” of Moncure, a girl’s softball team, served as a Girl Scout troop leader and volunteered in the Chatham County School system. She completed her second retirement from the Chatham County Council on Aging after many years of service. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Russell Lee. This union was blessed with the birth of six children. Her Husband, Russell Two children; David and Daniel (Felicia) preceded her into eternal rest.

Viola was a compassionate, loving individual, outstanding as a leader and a follower, an excellent teacher and nurturer with a genuine love of life and people. A loving wife, devoted mother, a special grandmother and loyal friend too many. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but her legacy of love and devotion to God will always be cherished by her sister-in-law, Almarie Jacobs of Sanford, NC; two daughters: Francine Parker of Pittsboro, North Carolina; Elizabeth (Kenneth) Alston of Moncure, North Carolina; Two sons: Wallace (Delynda) Lee of Washington, DC; Curtis Lee of the home; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
