Vicki Barineau Brinkley, age 60, of Tallahassee, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 27, 2017, after a nine month struggle with cancer. She is predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Elizabeth Barineau. They opened their hearts and home to her when she was two years old, giving her a lifetime of love and security. Vicki became the baby sister and sixth daughter in the family. She is survived by her husband, Ray Neal Brinkley, son, Jeremy Brinkley and daughter, Leslie Brinkley, all of Havana, Florida. Her sisters are Marilyn Brown (Gene), Eddy Harllee (John), Brenda Johnson (Caroll), all of Tallahassee, Sharon Abbott of Cairo, Georgia, and Kathy Johnson (Jerry), of Clermont, Florida. She also has surviving birth family siblings, Mary Kay Thurmond (David), of Tallahassee, and Paula Faye Steed (Randal), of Springfield, Georgia, and brother, Kenny Barineau of Tallahassee. She was taken from us too soon and will be forever loved and missed by all. Soon after graduation, Vicki began working with the State of Florida, Division of Motor Vehicles, where she remained a loyal employee her entire adult life. She enjoyed her work and made many good friends at DMV over the years. Our family will be forever grateful for the love, compassion and generosity shown to Vicki by her co-workers over the years and especially throughout her illness. She will be remembered for her sweet, kind disposition and her great love for her family. One of her greatest pleasures was attracting birds into her yard, especially hummingbirds, and, of course, she always had a dog to love.
