Stella “Tiny” (Mientka) Fensick, 92, of Plainville, passed away with her family by her side on Wednesday, May 16, 2012. She is now reunited with her beloved husband of over 68 years, the late George J. Fensick, II.
Stella was born in Northampton, MA on March 31, 1920, one of eight children to the late Andrew and Mary (Lenio) Mientka. Raised in Amherst, she was a 1939 graduate of Amherst High School and enjoyed attending their reunions. She moved to Connecticut shortly after her marriage to George in 1939, raising their three children in New Britain, and moving to Plainville in the early 1960’s. Stella worked at area factories including Peck Spring and Superior Electric. In the seventies, along with her husband George, they managed the Center Army & Navy store in Southington for several years for Eblens. Later she worked for Eblens in Unionville.
She is survived by her children, George J. Fensick, III and his wife, Carla of Plainville; William M. Fensick and his wife, Iris of Bristol; and Kathleen A. Kempf of Forestville; her grandchildren, Sharon Charest and her husband, Skip, Kimberly Fensick, Jen Kempf, Julie Kempf, and Michael Kempf and his wife, Kara, Heather, Melanie, and Kristen Fensick, Susan Mariner; and her great-grandchildren, Hannah, Caitlin, Dylan, Ethan, Matthew, Lia, and Emma. She also leaves her sister and best friend, Jean Vingo, many nieces and nephews, and her adored cat, “Sassy”. She was predeceased by her brothers, John, Chet, and Stanley and her sister, Julia and two infant siblings in Poland, George and Julia.
