Serena McKenna O’Brien, age 72 of Milford, passed away on February 25, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. Serena was born in Leominster, MA to Roderick and Adeline Mammone McKenna, and she grew up in Milford, CT and was a graduate of Milford High School, Class of 1957. She is predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Edward T. O’Brien. She is survived by her sister, Sylvia Bowman, Hobe Sound, FL., her brother Roderick F. McKenna (Susan) of Milford, her children Lisa Laing (Gordon) of Ivoryton, Lori Tomlinson (Thomas) of Shelton, Shawn O’Brien (Cathy) of Foxboro, MA., Gregory O’Brien of Concord, NH and Eileen O’Brien of Endicott, NY and thirteen beloved grandchildren; Brian Tucker, Kristopher, Matthew and Kevin Laing, Sarah and Kelly Tomlinson, Mark and Caitlin O’Brien, Aidan Talbot and Regan O’Brien, Emily and Julia Cox and Michael Martin. Serena left behind many extended family members and dear friends.
Serena was a dancer, choreographer and dance educator in Milford and Orange, where she was a member of Milford Repertory Theater and the Orange Players. She and Edward lived in Durham, NC for 25 years where she was an educator with the Durham County School System.
