Sarah Frances Gassett Beaty, 88, of Louisville died at her home Saturday, July 6, 2013.
Mrs. Beaty was born May 12, 1925 in Skipperville, AL to the late Sarah Miranda (Payne) and Mike Gassett . Mrs. Beaty graduated from Dale County High School and attended Riley Business College in Dothan, AL. Before she married, she worked as a secretary for the Superintendent of the Dale County School System.
She was a longtime member of Louisville Baptist Church.
She was married to James Willis Beaty on December 30, 1951, who preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters, Sarah Ruth Godwin and her husband, Eugene, and Rebecca Layton and husband, Lee; two sons, James Michael Beaty and wife, Lynn, and Thomas Richard Beaty and wife, Norma. Grandchildren include Alan Godwin, Elizabeth Godwin, Jennifer Peterson and husband, William, James Layton and wife, Kari, Jennie Sasser and husband, Derek, and Nicole Beaty. Great-grandchildren include Levi Layton, Leah Layton, Abigail Peterson, Kate Peterson, and Paisley Sasser.
Mrs. Beaty was preceded in death by four siblings: Woodrow Gassett, Sam Gassett, Gussie Gassett Phillips, and Joann Gassett Stuckey.
