Sadie Jean Dunnigan, 92, a resident of Tallahassee, passed away Friday, July 10, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 1, 1923, in Richmond, Virginia to the late Louis and Kathryn Sturman.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, George Dunnigan; daughter, Carol Jean Ward; grandson, Keith, and her siblings, Max, Charles and Beatrice. She was a long time member of Greensboro First Baptist Church and faithfully attended Canopy Roads Baptist Church. She was very active in church, participating as a teacher in Vacation Bible School and Sunday School. She was also involved in numerous Bible study groups. The Tallahassee Senior Center was also important to her, and she served as a Telephone Operator at the Senior Center. She enjoyed volunteering, and she received many awards for her Volunteer efforts in Tallahassee, East Point and Greensboro.
She loved to sing and participated with the Senior Chorus. She was a member of the Greensboro High School Booster Club and was known as the family historian. She loved her large family and anybody she ever met. Her survivors include her children, Dan (Gail) Doswell, Linda (Bill) Cook, Rick Nuckols, Tommy Ward and Donald Ward; grandchildren, Kevin, Stephanie, Ashley, Jennifer, Dana Carol, as well as numerous other grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. One sister, Kathryn White, also survives.
