Ruth Eubanks Gwaltney, 94, died December 6, 2016 in Tallahassee, Fla. A long-time resident of Tallahassee, she was a native of Aiken, SC. She was the daughter of the late Myrtle Owens Eubanks and Leon Champion Eubanks.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Daniel Gwaltney, Sr.; her son, David Gwaltney; grandson, Greg Cooksey; and brothers, Leon Eubanks and George ‘Bud’ Eubanks.
Ruth retired from Central Telephone Company. During her retirement years she enjoyed being a homemaker and a grandmother, and cooking delicious meals for her loved ones. Her wit and intellect were well appreciated by her family and friends, as was her generous nature.
She is survived by her daughters, Harriet McDonald (Bob) of Ochlocknee Bay, Fla., Carolyn Flowers (Will Luck) of Meigs, Ga.; her sons, Dan Gwaltney (Linda) of Chattahoochee, Fla.; Sam Gwaltney (Debbie) of Tallahassee; beloved daughter-in-law, Lynne Gwaltney of Cairo, Ga.; brother, Marion Eubanks (Edna) of Aiken, SC; sister-in-law, Gloria Danielowski of Prosperity, SC; 8 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews, and several cousins.
