Ruth McEwen Larson, daughter of Albert Franklin and Melvina Matthews McEwen, returned to live with her Heavenly Father on February 16, 2011.  She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, just in time to celebrate her husband’s birthday with him on the other side. In addition to her husband, she was also welcomed by her son, nine siblings, and her parents.

Ruth was born in Kimberly, Idaho on May 27, 1916, the middle of 13 children.

She attended and graduated from high school in Kimberly.

callings from an early age. For many years she was a member and officer of the DUP and loved serving others.

During her school years, she learned to play the tenor sax. She played in the school band and a dance band in the Twin Falls area. She taught herself to play the piano – a talent that brought her great joy her entire life.

In 1938 she married Peter McNeil Larson and together they lived in many Snake River Valley towns before settling in Boise. She was employed as a bookkeeper for many people and retired from First Security Bank. She also ran “The Doll House”—a company to make and repair dolls—for several years.

She loved music, quilting, and doing hand crafts—knitting, crocheting, embroidery, cross-stitch, and creating model doll houses.

Her family will miss her deeply, her great example, spiritual strength, profound love for all of us, laughter, zeal for reading and learning new things, morning sunshine songs, and the joy it brought her to sing with, laugh with, bounce, and spoil her great-grandchildren with treats. We are grateful to her for the heritage she has given us to pass on for many generations.
