Ruby Marilyn McDaniel peacefully passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2020, surrounded by her beloved family. Born in Taylor County, Florida on November 17, 1928, she was a daughter of the late George H. Hunter and Belle Denmark Hunter.
She is also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, George Washington “G.W.” McDaniel; daughter, Marilyn McDaniel Harris; grandson, Tommy McDaniel; and siblings, Ray Hunter, Green Columbus “Buster” Hunter, John Henry Hunter and Mary “Evelyn” Steele. Survivors include her son, Don McDaniel; daughter-in-law, Deobrah McDaniel; granddaughters, Carly Miller (Lennie) and Stacy Harris; great-children, Lennie Miller, Seth Miller, Pacarri McDaniel; great-great-granddaughter, Avery Miller; sister, Maebelle Merritt; several nieces and nephews; as well as other extended family members and friends.
She was known for her deep love and commitment to her the Lord, her children and family. She loved them more than anything. Always very generous, she helped others in times of need. She loved to cook and have family gatherings. She will always be remembered as a warm, selfless, caring and loving wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, great-great-grandma, aunt and friend. She was a member of The Apostolic Church of Tallahassee and had worked for A&P Grocery Store and retired from the Department of Highway Motor Vehicles in 1986. The family wishes to acknowledge with grateful appreciation the nurses and staff at Covenant Care Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
