Rosemary Dean Lewis Hauser, 89, passed away on May 9, 2020, at Margaret Dozier Hospice House in Tallahassee, Florida. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery beside her husband of 68 years. Rosemary was born in Huntington, West Virginia. Her family moved to Illinois, then Richmond, Virginia so her father could work as a drafter in the Navy shipyards during WWII. She had wonderful memories of the snow and icicles growing up there. She wanted to join the WAF, Women’s Air Force, to shuttle planes to Europe. Her dad convinced her that the barracks would be cold and wet. Her life was always full of music. She started by listening to Radio programs with her family, then vinyl records, 8-tracks, cassettes, and compact disc. The house would be full of music; Madame Butterfly, Tom Jones, Celtic, 2 Cellos, Old western, and Deep Purple. She sustained her love of the arts through her music, books, and art. She would bring her children to spend endless days at the library searching for her next adventure. She questioned everything. Her quest for answers started in searching card catalogues to having the world at her fingertips with teaching herself how to use a personal computer and search the internet. Her avid genealogy search was one of her principal callings, art was another. Several of her paintings are cherished in the homes of her family. She would love to sit on the beach of Anna Maria Island, one of her most liked spots and watch the colors of the sand, sea and sky blend and change over the course of the day, to inspire her paintings. She was married at Cherry Point, NC, to Cecil E. Hauser while he was in the Marine Corps. Their adventures led them across the country many times, with her making a comfortable home wherever they were. She cared deeply for their five children. She enjoyed collecting & looking at photos of her grandchildren, traveling to watching them participate in rodeos, dance recitals, beauty pageants, sports, and band. Rosemary’s love for nature, from flowers to animals, was passed on to her children. She rescued kittens, dogs and any creature that needed help. She was an accomplished horsewoman and taught her children to ride. Rosemary was the best listener ever. She inspired kindness and forgiveness. Everyone that met her loved and respected her. She was a strong woman, part of the ‘Greatest Generation”, a Breast Cancer Survivor, stoic, airborne and never complained. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her sons, Cecil E Hauser, JR. and his wife Sherry of Dubach, La and John R. Hauser of Tallahassee, Fl; three daughters, Hazel Hauser Roberts of Lafayette, La, Suzanne Hauser Foster and her husband Tim of Singer, LA, and Lisa Hauser Perry and her husband Kenny Perry; her brother Harry Roderick Lewis of Midlothian, VA; thirteen grandchildren, and twenty seven great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Master Sergeant Cecil E Hauser, SR, and her parent’s Harry and Hazel Lewis.
