Waterbury- Mrs. Petra Quinones Alvarez, 85, died Thursday, May 19, at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was the widow of Evaristo Alvarez.
Mrs. Alvarez was born January 9, 1926 in Morovis, Puerto Rico daughter of the late Tomas and Julia (Figueroa) Quinones. She moved to New York from Puerto Rico in 1948 and moved again to Waterbury in 1967. She had retired from the Waterbury Neckwear Co., was a former member of St. Cecilia’s and was currently a member of Sacred Heart Sagrado Corazon. She attended Day Break for many years and had made many friends there.
She is survived by one son, Robert Alvarez of Watertown; four daughters, Ramona Guzman of Waterbury, Nancy Trawick of Waterbury, Shirley M. Rodriguez and her husband George of Puerto Rico, and Carmen M. Vargas and her husband Mario of Waterbury; five grandchildren, Julie A. Trawick, Yesenia N. Vargas and her fiancé Lou Faiella, Nilsa M. Rodriguez, Matthew A. Vargas and Daniel A. Vargas and two great grandsons.
