Nola Walker Cox, 88, of Blue Springs went to be with the Lord Thursday, January 17, 2013. Let this be a time to celebrate her life on earth that was and an afterlife for eternity that will forever be. Although life’s road has many twist and turns, the end of the journey is most delightful for those who trust and believe in the Lord.
Music will be provided by Beverly Danford.
Pall Bearers will be Jeff Smith, Brad Lindsey, Herod Brown, Max Walker, Spurgeon Walker and Nelson Walker.
Daughter of the late Tom and Ludie Davis Walker, she was born and raised in the Blue Springs Community where she lived most of her life. She was very fortunate to be born and raised, not only in a large immediate family but also in close proximity to a large extended family. The whole family was very colorful and their adventures would have made those of Huck Fenn and Tom Sawyer seem boring. Their folklore is still shared and cherished today amongst friends and family and always produces lots of memories and laughter. She was the epitome of what a wife, mother, daughter and sister was to be, devoted, courageous, strong yet gentle and caring with a servants’ heart. In her life she enjoyed much, yet she endured immeasurable sorrow and heartache, all the while, resilient, her spirits unwavering. Though sometimes in life we are distracted, her faith never waned and she accepted and trusted Gods’ will be done. While she will be greatly missed, she has so many waiting and we could only wish to be there to witness the reunion as they fall in each others’ arms once again.
Including her mom and dad, she was preceded by her husband of 65 years, J. C. Cox, a daughter, Amanda Simmons, sons Johnny and Stanley Cox. Sisters who preceded her include Mary Helms and Larah Casey and brothers, Otis, Cotis, Roy and Marcus Walker.
Survivors include son, Andy Cox, grandson Jeff Smith, granddaughters Christa Lindsey (Brad) and Jessica Lenertz (Bryan), great grandchildren Grayson and Kashton Lenertz as well as son-in-law J. C. Simmons. She is also survived by a sister, Tommie Reeder and a brother, Virgil Walker as well as Cynthia Williams.
Special thanks and love to Virgil Walker as he steadfastly stood by moms’ side throughout and we should all be so fortunate to have a brother such as he was to mom.
Special recognition to niece and nephew, Jane and Herod Brown, niece and nephew, Janet and Charles Walker and niece Ramona McLaughlin for their love and support.
Special thanks and appreciation to the nurses and administrative staff at Henry County Health and Rehab in Abbeville for the tremendous love and care each of you provided for mom as well as the exceptional communication for which will always be remembered and appreciated. Libby, you were a godsend and your compassion, professionalism and willingness to go the extra mile will always be treasured. From the bottom of my heart, sincerely, all the rest of you nurses are to be truly commended and applauded as I have never seen such dedication and compassion as you ladies illustrated in this environment. It was amazing to see how you all took those extra steps and measures to comfort and care for your patients. I can never thank or repay you enough on behalf of mom and myself other than asking God to pour His blessings upon each and every one of you. You were certainly angels to her.
Gail (Boo) and Martha (Peggy) at OVM will always be remembered for their love and care for mom and putting smiles on her face.
Thanks too for Wendi and Shelly with Gentiva Hospice and all the churches that lifted mom up in prayers.
