Nell Florence Culpepper Baker, 90, of Tallahassee, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2017, while surrounded by her loving family. A daughter of the late Thomas Perry and Nettie Hyatt Culpepper, she was born in Cullman, Alabama, on April 20, 1927. Nell attended Auburn and then joined the army, where she met her husband ‘Baker” of 55 years before being widowed in 2005. Strong, hardworking, and adventurous, she enjoyed traveling and was proud of her service in the military. Nell was a longtime Tallahassee Realtor and member of Grace Church. She loved the Lord and was committed to her beliefs. She taught Sunday school throughout the years and was deeply dedicated to the study of God’s Word. Her legacy is one of faith, centered in love. Preceding her in death are her husband, Gene W. Baker and her siblings, Perry Culpepper, Alice Werner and Margeurite Davis. She is survived by her children, Deborah (Jerry) Johnston, Cathy (Mike) Scaringe; grandchildren, Stephen Scaringe, Jonathan Scaringe, Alexandra Scaringe, Samantha Scaringe and Kristopher Reed; siblings, Horace Culpepper and Hannah Brock.
