The Irish Claddagh is an enduring symbol that represents; friendship, love and loyalty. Mary R. Paglione (nee Riley) kept her stubborn, County Mayo, irish up but held dear the loyalty of lifelong friendships, some grudges, and a love that formed her as a wife; mother, sister, friend and as an instrument of peace. If she could stop one heart from breaking, she would not have lived in vain. In the early evening of Wednesday, July 20th, at Samaritan Inpatient Hospice in Mt. Holly, the pipes, was a calling. After 74 years, Mary’s road had risen up to meet her, with the sun on her face and the wind at her back, her soul, unencumbered, rose like incense into amazing grace. Mary was in Heaven one-half hour before the devil knew she passed.
Mary was born in Mt. Holly and had been in a long time Burlington Twp. resident. She began her career as a Probation Officer’s secretary where she met her husband and started her family. After her children were off to school she returned to work at the Mt. Holly Municipal Court where she worked as Deputy Clerk for 15 years. Mary went on to work as the Municipal Court Administrator in Burlington Twp. where she worked for 15 years before retiring in 2003.
Mary enjoyed traveling, planning family vacations, antiquing, and outlet shopping. At home, she enjoyed a quiet night reading, sewing, needlepoint or assembling the photographs of her family’s treasured moments, and scrapbooking. She was an animal lover and adored her cats (that Ed named); Adios and Gypsy. Her “club” friends met for dinner each month it was 4 lifelong friends that; laughed a little louder, smiled a little brighter and lived a little better. Mrs. Paglione is survived by her loving husband J. Edward Paglione of Burlington and is the mother of; Susan Paglione of Haddon Heights, Michael & his wife Teresa Paglione of Baltimore, MD and Karen Paglione & her husband Jeff Butterfield of Milwaukee, WI. Mary is the proud grandmother of Megan, Riley, Samantha and Joseph and is also survived and will be sadly missed by her sister Catharine Riley of Moorestown as well as her lifelong “Club” friends Barbara, Gail and Trish Ceade.
