Mary Elizabeth Cox, 66, of Tallahassee, peacefully passed on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at Big Bend Hospice House.
She was born February 23, 1951, to Hugh Torbit and Connie Reese Torbit in Tallahassee, where she resided until she moved with her mother and three sisters to Panama City, Florida.
A trip to the fair turned into a 49 year marriage to Dennis E. Cox. After returning to Tallahassee in 1981 with her family, Liz worked as a Field Manager with a Marketing Research Company until 2010. She enjoyed old movies, music, word puzzles, collecting lighthouses, and most importantly, bragging about her children and grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her sons, Keith and Benjamin Cox; sisters, Ann Wesson and Nancy Torbit; and brother, Sidney Torbit.
She is survived by her husband and 4 daughters; Kelly McDonald, Wendy Cox (Bobbi Messer), Lacey Patterson and Sarah Cox; grandchildren, Dena McDonald, Katie Linton, Colin Cox, David Cox, Ethan Patterson, Lola Patterson, Ben Patterson and Warren Donley; a sister, Dorothy Gay; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
