Margaret Pomaville died peacefully in her sleep with family at her side, on January 2, 2014, at her home in Angola Indiana. Born April 27, 1918 in Pennsylvania, (her family moved to Michigan when she was a child). Survivors include, her daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Paul Jacobs; son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Laura (Tobi) Pomaville; sisters Veronica Mattia and Dorothy Bubeck. Margaret has seven grandchildren: Lynn Hicks, Jeffery Pudlo, Nanette Dell, Todd Jacobs, Christine Espana, Michael Pomaville, and Craig Pomaville. Additionally, Margaret has 12 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers, Frank and George Bubeck, and her sister, Pauline Dubicki.Margaret (also known as Margie) spent the working portion of her life as an assembly worker in Warren, Michigan. When she was able, bowling was her activity of choice. She later moved to Indiana to be near her daughter, Janice and son-in-law, Paul. Mornings would find Margaret reading the local newspaper and looking up the previous days scores of her home team, the Detroit Tigers. It was important to her to know their standings in the AL. Besides her love of family, was her love of bingo. It was evident that her competitive spirit never left her, even at the age of 95, by way of her letting the “bingo caller” know that they better, “call the right numbers”. Family members were instructed that they needed to take home the prized quarters. Leaving one to think that the National Vault was in her drawer that had to emptied regularly. Sunday afternoons were all about going out for spareribs and French fries and watching the Tigers game at a local pub.If there is a legacy to be written of Margaret’s life it would be: It is never too late to heal relationships and begin anew. Her last years were filled with love and gratitude from knowing that she was gently and lovingly cared for, and cared about. Small in stature, Margaret left a huge mark in the lives of those she touched. For those of you who want to send flowers or memorials, may I offer a few choices? The florist that has handled many of our past purchases is, Flowers By Deb, located in Hamtramck. Phone number, 1-800-874-1330. Her work is very good and her prices have always been very fair. However, although the blooms are beautiful, it is our sincere request that you consider a gift of your time or money to be made to a specific aide or nurse in a nursing home of your choice. I cannot find the words to speak to the care, love, and dignity with which the aides and nurses worked with mom EVERY SINGE DAY. The aides and nurses in nursing homes are so under paid and over worked that it is our family’s request that you identify an aide or nurse by name in a nursing home of your choice and gift a gift of money in Margaret’s name. As an example, the wonderful home in which mom lived the best years of her life is: Lakeland Skilled Nursing Center, 500 Williams St., Angola IN 46703. Phone number: 260-665-2161.This request might seem a bit odd, however, after “camping out” for five days and nights, we had the opportunity of really seeing the enormous responsibility these people take on. We so much want to thank you for your calls and caring words. You will never know how much they helped us. Hopefully this giant hole in our hearts will be filled with only the happy memories of what this “giant of a women” was for us.
