Mrs. Mabel Carter Williams

Mrs. Mabel Carter Williams, age 99, of Fredonia moved to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the EAMC Lanier Nursing Home in Valley.

Mrs. Williams was born in Lanett, Alabama on November 22, 1917 to the late Frank and Ethel Morgan.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Carter; her second husband, Bill Williams; brothers, Olin, Billy, James, and Horace Morgan; sister, Louise Malcolm; and her daughter, Dalphner Redden.   

She was employed for a period of time with West Point Pepperell.  She then went to work as the secretary and bookkeeper of her first husband’s business, Carter Construction Company.  She later worked with H&R Block. 

She enjoyed numerous hobbies over the years with her daughter, Dalphner Redden.  As a younger lady, she enjoyed playing her piano and singing in the church.  She was a member of Evangel Temple Assembly of God.

Mrs. Williams is survived by her son, Harold Carter, of Fredonia, and his fiancé, Lelot Hicks; grandsons, Hal Carter and his wife, Shannon, Jeremy Carter and his wife, Shannon; great-grandchildren,  Austin Carter, Ashton Carter, all of Fredonia, Jazmine Arwood, Greenville, PA.; granddaughter, Deborah Redden Williams, Thomaston, GA.; great-grandchildren, Ryan Williams, Chapel Hill, N.C., Jonathan Williams, Atlanta, GA., Lauren Williams, Washington, D.C., Nicole Williams, Thomaston, GA.; son-in-law, James Redden, Fredonia; stepchildren, Glenda Crane, Valley, Lawrence Williams and his wife, Dianne, Valley, Janice Gagnon, Clinton, Maine, Bennie Williams and his wife, Gail, Camilla, GA.; and a host of step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
