Lucille Henrietta Willis, 100, of Tallahassee, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2019, while surrounded by her loving family.
A daughter of the late Hamp Grimsley, Jr. and the late Erie Ophelia Bynum Grimsley, she was born in Blakely, Georgia on May 22, 1919. Also preceding her in death are her husband, Aubrey Willis, who preceded her in death in 1987; and siblings, Olin Grimsley, Gladys Bundy, Hilma Grimsley and Myrtice Grimsley.
A dedicated homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was also one of the first sales clerks at Gayfer’s, and worked there for many years. After her retirement from Gayfer’s, she was a member of the Friday morning Coffee Club for twenty years. She was an active member at Forest Heights Baptist Church for forty years and never met a stranger.
She is survived by her daughter, Joanne Collins of Tallahassee, Florida; grandchildren, Bradley S. Collins of Denver, Colorado and Lisa D. Kent (husband, Bobby) of Niceville, Florida; great-grandchildren, Anji Fisher of Tallahassee and Whitney Collins of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and sister, Frances Mason.
