Mrs. Lois Steele Thompson, age 79, of Milford, beloved wife to Robert B. Thompson, entered into eternal rest on June 28, 2010 at Milford Hospital. Daughter of the late John R. and Christine MacLeod Steele, she was born on September 26, 1930 in Dedham, MA.
Lois S. Thompson lived her life as a loving, caring, compassionate wife, mother, sister and human being. Her giving ways never ceased. Raising four sons was her true joy. Family travels with husband Robert brought the family to many places around the country; having homes in Scotch Plains, New Jersey, Mission Hills, Kansas, Palm Beach, Florida and Darien and Southport, Connecticut, before retiring to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. There she spent 22 years with her husband, before coming back to Connecticut to be with their sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In her early years near Boston, she attended the Chandler Business College and met her husband, Robert, while he was at Harvard Business School. Lois worked for the famed child doctor T. Berry Brazelton. She was also administrative assistant to the Chief of Surgery at Stamford Hospital for many years. Lois was a gifted, award-winning artist. Lois was actively involved in the civil rights movement during the 1960s, working with the C.O.R.E. organization in Kansas City. She was proud of her Scottish heritage with the MacLeod clan. Most of all, Lois S. Thompson brought love into the world and shared it to all people with her beautiful smile and tender heart.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her loving and devoted sons Scott and Mark Thompson of Milford, Chris Thompson of Astoria, NY and Addison Thompson of Bridgeport and eight cherished grandchildren. Lois is also survived by her siblings, Lorna McIntyre and Robert Steele of Florida, Anne Conway of Charlotte, NC and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by brother Jack Steele of Dedham, MA.
