Mrs. Lecia Darlene Paschal Palmer was born on August 16, 1963 to the late Richard and Betty Burnette Paschal. She made her transition from earthly life to eternal rest on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Moses Cone Hospital.

Lecia was educated in the Chatham County School System and was a graduate of Chatham Central High School.  She also attended Central Carolina Community College studying Business Education.

At an early age, she joined Gees Grove AME Zion Church and remained a dedicated and loyal member until God called her home. Throughout her membership, she worked in various departments and held numerous positions within the church (Church Beautification Committee, Sunday School Teacher, Director of Christian Education, President of the WMB Ensemble, Missionary Member-Life Member, Head of Community Bible Study and Lay Council Member).  In addition, Lecia faithfully served in many capacities on the Durham District which included: Second Mile Coordinator for the Women’s Home, Overseas Missionary Society-Durham District and Durham District Coordinator for the National Council of Negro Women.

Lecia had a passion for studying God’s word, fashion, baking and a genuine love of children.  She loved to talk, sing, dance and spend quality time with her family and friends. Her beautiful smile warmed the heart of each person she encountered.

On April 12, 2008, Lecia was united in holy matrimony to her loving and devoted husband Robert Palmer.  She was preceded in death by her father Richard Paschal, Sr., a brother James Paschal, Sr. and a nephew James Paschal, Jr.

Lecia leaves to cherish her in memory: her husband Robert Palmer; stepdaughter Terri Layton; her mother Betty Paschal; three sisters, Sharon Cheek (Sylvester) of Ramseur, NC, Barbara Paschal of Siler City, NC and Janice Paschal of Greensboro, NC; two brothers, Richard Paschal (Thomasina) of Forest Oaks, NC and Jerry Paschal (Pandora) of Goldston, NC.  She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
