Katerine Lawson Smith, 90, who retired from Tallahassee Memorial Health Care, transitioned into eternal life and received the Crown of Glory on Monday, January 7, 2019, while surrounded by her loving family. A daughter of the late Solomon Lawson and Hattie McGill Lawson, she was born in Midway, Florida on April 5, 1928. Meeting her at the Gates of Heaven in addition to her parents are her husband, Richard Lee Smith; daughter, Chrishonn “Chris” Denise Smith; siblings, Solomon Lawson, Jr., Arlene Lewis, John Lawson, Alfred Lawson, Sr., Ellis Lawson and Elizabeth Lawson and son-in-law, Maurice Laws, Jr. She attended Florida A & M University, was a faithful member at University Ministries International COGIC and most recently attended Cathedral of Faith Ministries COGIC. Giving her all to her family and church, as well as watching QVC and Family Feud were her favorite hobbies. Mourning her passing but cherishing her memories are her children, Veronica Smith Ash (husband, Richard), Richard O. Smith (wife, Deborah) and Angela Laws; grandchildren, Richard Ash, II (wife, Shawntrell), Angelise Card (husband, Terence), Yvette Ash, Derrick Yates (wife, Catherine), Marcia Laws, Devin Smith (wife, Andrea), Denetra Smith and Deanna Ford Smith (husband, Christopher); fifteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and god-children, Christina Harrell, Raymond Wilson, II and Debi Brimm Pender.
